Ways to Be Part of the Amazing Facts Legacy Circle

There are a number of unique and effective ways you can support the work of Amazing Facts and become a vital part of our Amazing Facts Legacy Circle, all while receiving the incredible blessings of faithful stewardship!

Bequest in Will or Trust

A charitable bequest is a donation written into a will or trust that directs a gift to be made to a qualified charity, such as Amazing Facts. Through this gift, you can further the Lord's work even after you pass away. Additionally, a charitable bequest can help you save estate taxes by providing your estate with a charitable deduction for the value of the gift.

Charitable Gift Annuity

A charitable gift annuity allows you to transfer an asset to a charity in exchange for fixed payments for life. The income can be quite high depending on your age, and a portion of your payments might even be tax-free. When you set up a gift annuity, you can claim a deduction for the value of your future gift to us-and you have the satisfaction of knowing your gift will proclaim the everlasting gospel to more souls.

Charitable Remainder Trust

A charitable remainder trust enables you to make a gift of appreciated property and receive payments for a life, two lives, or a term of years. You can also bypass capital gains tax. The trust will sell your property tax-free and then reinvest in assets that produce increased income for you and your loved ones. An added benefit is that you will receive a deduction for your gift of the remaining value in the trust, which will help broadcast the three angels' messages throughout the world.

Insurance Policy Beneficiary

Life insurance proceeds can make a wonderful gift to God's work. The gift of life insurance can be made simply by naming Amazing Facts as the beneficiary of your policy. Your life insurance proceeds will help further the gospel ministry, and your estate will benefit from an estate tax charitable deduction based on the value of the proceeds paid.

Gift of Retirement Assets

Perhaps the easiest way to make a gift of your retirement assets, such as an IRA, is to name Amazing Facts as the beneficiary. If the IRA were given to your family, much of the value would be drained through estate and income taxes. By designating Amazing Facts as the beneficiary on part or all of your IRA, the full value is transferred tax-free at your death and your estate receives a charitable deduction. If you wish to leave your IRA to your spouse, you can still list Amazing Facts as a secondary beneficiary.

Bank and Brokerage Account Beneficiary

Just as with an insurance policy or retirement asset, you can also designate Amazing Facts as the beneficiary to your bank or brokerage account. Doing so will provide your estate with a deduction for the gift value and will also be a way to ensure your evangelism values are reflected in your estate plan.

Only a few short days before Jesus' crucifixion, Mary Magdalene, whose heart was overflowing with gratitude for the mercy and salvation Jesus had brought her, purchased a gift to honor her Savior-a precious alabaster box of spikenard perfume. This present, which cost her a year's wages, was truly a gift fit for a king.

While Jesus and His disciples dined at Simon's house, Mary meekly entered the room and presented her gift to Jesus. She broke open the alabaster box and poured the perfume onto Jesus' head and feet, as if anointing Him for the sacrifice He would soon make for her and all mankind. Recognizing Jesus' great love and compassion, Mary's eyes welled up with tears, which she used to wash Jesus' feet. Then, using only what she had available, Mary dried His feet with her hair.

As the fragrance of the anointing oil permeated the room, reactions were decidedly mixed. Jesus' disciples, prompted by Judas, murmured that it was a waste of funds that could have been used to help the needy. Some even questioned Jesus' role as a prophet, since He allowed a woman with Mary's sordid background to touch Him. Jesus, knowing their cold hearts, sought to shield Mary from the anger that surrounded her and defended her good deed.

Then Jesus openly honored Mary's devotion, saying that "wherever this gospel is preached in the whole world, what this woman has done will also be told as a memorial to her" (Mark 14:9). From the commentary in The Desire of Ages, we learn,

Looking into the future, the Savior spoke with certainty concerning His gospel. It was to be preached throughout the world. And as far as the gospel extended, Mary's gift would shed its fragrance, and hearts would be blessed through her unstudied act. Kingdoms would rise and fall; the names of monarchs and conquerors would be forgotten; but this woman's deed would be immortalized upon the pages of sacred history. Until time should be no more, that broken alabaster box would tell the story of the abundant love of God for a fallen race.

Mary experienced the abundant love of God and the forgiveness of her sins; she testified through her gift that nothing meant more to her than honoring her Lord. This is the legacy of Mary, a legacy that continues to make an impact throughout the world wherever the gospel is preached.

As we also remember the great things God has done in our lives, His forgiveness of our sins and the abundant love He shows us each day, we have the opportunity to, like Mary, leave a fragrant legacy for our Lord.

Just as Mary presented her gift in an alabaster box, we have the chance to make some of our most impactful gifts to Christ through our will, trust, charitable gift annuity, or other planned giving instrument. I want to personally invite you to join our new Amazing Facts Legacy Circle by completing the enclosed response device and letting us know how you have remembered Amazing Facts through your estate plan. I pray that you will be inspired to leave a legacy for Jesus that will continue to tell the story of the abundant love of God for a fallen race.
